Pride FC Shirt
Finally, I found the Pride FC Shirt! Pride FC was the first platform to launch MMA’s popularity. Founded by Nobuyuki Sakakibara and Nobuhiko Takada in 1997 Pride FC made Japan the mecca of MMA where the world’s best athletes flocked to compete. The original intention of Pride FC was to build a platform where Takada could fight the legendary Rickson Gracie. The show found its popularity and grew to be a national sensation.
One of the reasons behind it’s popularity was that it was a new promotion that broke away from the traditional platforms in Karate and Sumo. Additionally, each event was managed and produced to be like a show instead of a competition. With exciting costumes, interesting fighters, and the enthusiastic announcing voice of Lenne Hardt. Pride FC brought early MMA fans unforgettable experiences and fight heroes.
Although one of the first fights I watched took place in Rings, the two fighters that ignited my passion for MMA eventually moved to and found success at Pride FC. Fedor Emelianenko and Ronanto Babalu Sobral. Pride FC brought us legendary fighters who moved to the UFC with the merger. Guys like Rampage Jackson, Shogun Rua, Nogueira brothers, and Dan Henderson.
Even more than the fighters, Pride FC gave us legendary fights. Fedor vs Kevin Randleman, Don Frey vs Takayama, Fedor vs Crocop, Nick Diaz vs Takanori Gomi with the first gogoplata finish in the ring! The memories and matchups are endless. When the UFC was just coming up. Dana White and Chuck Liddell even flew to Japan to join the 2003 middleweight tournaments. The goal of the mission was to show the world that the UFC had quality fighters and were worthy of competition to Pride FC.
Finally fight fans can pay homage to the awesomeness that is Pride FC with the Pride FC shirt. Available as part of the UFC, looking forward to rocking this especially on Pride Never Die week.
