Eddie Bravo vs Royler Gracie II, Metamoris 3, 29th March 2014
Metamoris 3 presents one of the greatest rematches in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the main event fight between Eddie Bravo and Royler Gracie. The first time these two met was in ADCC 2003. The match ended with Eddie Bravo submitting Royler Gracie by triangle choke. Almost 11 years later, the two Brazilian Jiu Jitsu masters meet again.
Eddie Bravo is a 3rd degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. His teacher is Jean-Jacques Machado, a legend in BJJ of his own right. Eddie Bravo is known as an incredible Jiu Jitsu technician and a master of the rubber guard. He is also the founder of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. To UFC fans, we also know Eddie Bravo as commentator Joe Rogan’s teacher.
Royler Gracie is a 7th degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. He is the son of grand master Helio Gracie. He used to run the Gracie Humaita school in Rio De Janeiro. Royler is also a two-time Pan American Champion, three-time ADCC World Champion and four-time World Jiu Jitsu Champion.
It is also incredibly suitable that the rematch is held at Metamoris. This is the third year Metamoris is held and offers an incredibly interesting and pure take on BJJ competition. Each match is 20 minutes and winners are only determined via submission. The format aims to discourage point fighting and remains true to BJJ.
