Conor McGregor vs Dennis Siver, UFC Fight Night McGregor vs Siver, January 2015
For fear of this blog becoming too much of a Conor McGregor fan page, I will try and keep this short. But there is something that I really like about the way this guy fights. He has the eloquence and confidence that most of us hope to achieve in anything at all. It’s this smooth and assured style of fighting and movement that has me I-hate-to-admit-it…captivated.
Leading up to the Conor McGregor vs Dennis Siver fight, Bloody Elbow did an interview with McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh. Kavanagh described a very make-sense way of training fighters. To be well educated, curious, and knowledgeable about fighting. To be able to internalize and take ownership of what they are learning. To lead a simple and healthy lifestyle that excludes the special diets and supplements. To train to be a fighter rather than to be an aggressive athlete.
However, when watching Conor McGregor vs Dennis Siver, one thing that John Kavanagh mentioned in the interview kept coming back into my mind. He mentioned that the team watches nature documentaries to study how animals move. To watch “…silverback moving through the jungle, how tigers creep up on their prey…”. This is a concept that we have repeatedly heard Conor McGregor mention in his interviews and documentary. He indicates that no one else in MMA understand the human anatomy and human movement as well as he does. Incredibly interesting to see this in action!
Without any more jumping and yelling from the Conor McGregor hype train, watch the fight and see for yourself.
