This is the second time these two MMA legends and Pride warriors meet. The first meeting was at Pride 12 in 2000. Wanderlei Silva won that fight via unanimous decision. Since that fight, Wanderlei Silva went on to defeat Pride superstars such as Kazushi Sakuraba, Rampage Jackson, and Ricardo Arona. He captured and successfully defended the Pride Middleweight Championship and established himself firmly as one of the most dangerous MMA fighters in the world. Pride 33 is Wanderlei Silva’s last fight in Pride before moving to the UFC to face Chuck Liddell in another one of MMA’s best of the best fights.

Pride 12 was Dan Henderson’s first fight in Pride. Previously he fought under Rings. In 1999 he won the Rings King of the Kings tournament defeating Gilbert Yvel, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Renato Sobral to do it. After the first defeat to Wanderlei, Dan Henderson went on to defeat Renzo Gracie, Murilo “Ninja” Rua, Murilo Bustamante, and Ryo Chonan. In 2005, Dan Henderson won the Pride Welterweight Grand Prix and became the Pride Welterweight Champion. Pride 33 is also Dan Henderson’s last fight with Pride before moving to the UFC.

Dan Henderson vs Wanderlei Silva II is a fight that shows fight fans around the world the ferocious fighting styles of Dan Henderson and Wanderlei Silva. Both fighters have knock out power in all limbs and they are not afraid to show it. In the first round of the fight, Wanderlei Silva shows just how dangerous he is in almost knocking Dan Henderson out. In round 2, Dan Henderson puts his Olympic level wrestling on display by controlling the BJJ black belt Wanderlei Silva on the ground. Round 3 of this fight is perhaps one of the best rounds in MMA history. Wanderlei Silva and Dan Henderson have their feet planted firmly on the canvas trading punches. Dan Henderson knocks out Wanderlei Silva for the win and becomes the first MMA fighter to hold two belts (Middleweight and Welterweight) simultaneously. Other fighters that are later able to do this include BJ Penn (UFC Lightweight and Welterweight), and Randy Couture (UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight).
