Dillon Danis back as the most fashionable BJJ practitioner in his private jet. Rocking the D&G leopard and pineapple shirt. He also has a brilliant pair of Versace white deer skin shoes on.
Many members of the fight world find Dillon’s attitude to be annoying and disrespectful. But you can’t blame how it’s working and drawing attention. Taking a page right out of Conor’s book of success, Dillon Danis is definitely making a name for himself. With the noise he is making, he can leverage this popularity to negotiate for bigger contracts and even PPV points in the future.

As usual, I’m following the fights from a computer screen or a TV screen. The 2017 IBJJF Pan Ams were no different. While following the competition via youtube, twitter, and instagram I noticed on Andre Galvao’s instagram account that he and his wife Angelica Galvao were wearing some pretty nice jiu jitsu clothes. By jiu jitsu clothes, I don’t mean gis or rash guards. I mean they were wearing t shirts that were pretty damned cool.

Ronaldo Jacare Souza and Roger Gracie are two of the most talented and accomplished Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners in the world. These two fighters have developed a little bit of a rivalry through the years. Sometimes you sit and reflect on the condition that the world finds itself today. And you inevitably start thinking about the people you meet, the people that exist around you, and just people in general. I always start to wonder about the quality of people out there. I always come to the conclusion that I really appreciate certain qualities such as being genuine, honest, selfless and empathetic.
Recently I came across a documentary made by Stuart Cooper about the BJJ coach Kurt Osiander. This documentary was only about forty minutes but portrayed an individual that I found incredibly inspirational. From what I can see in the documentary, Kurt Osiander is one of those people that you either love or hate, but most people love. He believes in good, keeps life simple, acts selflessly, and his devotion to BJJ is unquestioning. In short, Kurt Osiander is one of those people that has the qualities that I admire, qualities I hope to learn and make my own. His genuine, honest, selfless, and no bullshit nature reignites within me encouragement that there are still good people out there.
